On the subject of timing, LAGASA was in the inception phase from 2024 already. It formally launched following Kohn’s resignation from formal academic work, and had its multi-stakeholder launch event on 7 February 2025.
This fantastic multi-stakeholder LAGASA Launch was sponsored by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the GI– as LAGASA’s initial incubator – and hosted at Cape Town.
LAGASA’s launch was attended by a wide variety of expert stakeholders, including high-ranking representatives from public, private, NGO, diplomatic, media, and educational institutions. The launch was extremely well-received.
