Aside from a productive international, multistakeholder mission in Vienna, on the part of LAGASA, as supported by the G.I., March 2025 also saw LAGASA making detailed pro bono submissions at the request of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development for ‘Input on the proposed establishment of an Administrative Justice Advisory Council’.

Multi-stakeholder discussions about international best practice and novel efforts
While in Vienna, Kohn and representatives from the G.I. engaged in meaningful multi-stakeholder discussions about international best practice and novel efforts – including those being rolled out by LAGASA – to strengthen the rule of law, build capacity, and combat corruption and other forms of impunity proactively and positively.
Among others, Kohn (with the generous support of Livia Wagener of the G.I.) met with the Dean and Executive Secretary of the International Corruption Academy, Slagjana Taseva.
Meeting with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the United Nations
Kohn and Wagner also engaged with Vera Strobachova-Budway and Ralf-Ernst of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, as well as representatives from the United Nations, including Ms Tatiana Veres, on the work of capacity- and courage-enhancing endeavours, particularly for women in the law, including women Judges.
While in Vienna, Kohn also had the privilege of being an invited VIP guest at the famous ‘Juristenball’, long with the Women in Law Initiative’s Founders, Alix Frank and Franz Heidinger.
This experience was part of Kohn’s prize, having been voted the Winner – by the Justitia Laureates Committee of the Women in Law Initiative – in the International Category as ‘2024’s Best Female Lawyer Game-changer, Pioneer and Achiever’.
Guest Lecture for Prof Franz Heidinger in his course, ‘Applied comparative law and language’ at the University of Vienna
Additionally, while in Vienna, Kohn was honoured to represent LAGASA, in delivering a Guest Lecture for Prof Franz Heidinger in his course, ‘Applied comparative law and language’ at the University of Vienna.
The lecture was presented in a hybrid form, and Kohn provided a comparative insight to attendees –including a Viennese Judge – on SA’s approach to the fiduciary and other responsibilities of Company Directors in SA.
Submissions to the South African Law Reform Commission
Since Kohn’s return from Vienna, LAGASA has been busy with much More pro bono work, including drafting detailed Submissions to the South African Law Reform Commission on the ongoing efforts to ensure state capture redress, their potential pitfalls and promise.
